Golden Posters / Handmade
"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one."
- John Winston Lennon
Clear glue and golden stars
Original poster /
March 2018: On this project the task was to find a piece of graphic design and redesign it. My choice fell on the iconic John Lennon "Imagine" poster. The purpose of this project was to test different formats and techniques. It was a fun process where you could do almost anything to create something new from an old piece. Using many different techniques led to these A3 posters, later resulting in the golden poster.
Process /
Line drawing
Crayon
Inverted
Marker
Black marker
Cut out
All of the images are made by hand and scanned. The first technique with the clear glue and golden stars made an interesting effect in the scanner that I quite like. Not all of the methods work with text, so some images have some or no text. The final poster was made by cutting golden tape into shapes that followed the face of Lennon. This image was made on a large poster that could not be scanned; therefore, the image is a picture of the poster that is hanging on a wall in my apartment.
Pencil
Marker
End result /
Golden tape on a 70 x 100 cm poster
Having this poster hanging on the wall has made a couple of my friends interested in me making custom posters for them with the same technique, so there will be more posters coming in the future.
